The Snow Kept Coming and the Records Kept Falling!
The snow was big and the smiles were HUGE! Wave after wave of big snow storms brought record snow to our favorite slopes this season! This year we saw records broken for monthly snowfall totals, consecutive day snow accumulation and more, putting some resorts above their annual average snowfall before February. A few broke all time snowfall records! Steamboat had almost 40 feet, Jackson Hole set a record with more than 50 feet - Yes... Fifty Feet of Teton Mountain Powder. March was just as plentiful and right up through the second week of April, the Rocky Mountain resorts were enjoying powder-filled mid-winter conditions. Aspen/Snowmass New Family Adventure Center
The Renaissance continues at Snowmass. Last season's new Elk Camp Gondola in Snowmass and updated Silver Queen Gondola in Aspen was just the start. As a focal point of Snowmass' new base area development, the new Tree House family adventure center is a 25,000 sq ft facility full of activities for kids of all ages. With a focus on fun and the environment, the new Tree House facility boasts a family-friendly climbing gym, teen center, themed rooms along with kids' retail and dining as well. Telluride’s New Black Iron Bowl!
Offering an unforgettable back country experience - in bounds, Black Iron Bowl is both challenging and beautiful! The new terrain sits against the dramatic backdrop of Palmyra Peak on the western end of the resort and adds eight runs of backcountry-style terrain adjacent to the breathtaking Prospect Bowl. Accessible with a short hike from the Prospect Lift, skiers and riders will be able to drop in anywhere along the ridge. Offering 1000 vertical feet on the primary pitches, the terrain includes the expansive Mountain Quail couloir, European-style faces, open glades and steep chutes.
